So, despite being married gal, I subscribe to this single gal newsletter, written by a man, on the male psyche. I find it entertaining, amusing and somewhat informative. The one I just got done with is all about being too needy. Too in-touch with your [female] emotions. This got me to thinking [along with a few after-work cocktails].
It (newsletter) begged the question: do men accuse you of being too needy or 'hysterical'? Thinking about this, I laugh, and think, no, in fact, it's the absolute EXACT opposite. When I was, in fact, single gal, men accused me of being too detached, too not-into-them, too independent, too (tacit) masculine.
I started thinking about my good, close female friends. How each and every single one, with the exception of the exquisite K., are also way, way, way too manly. In the sense of being rather independent sorts of gals, not feminine in more *traditional* ways. It occurred to me that all my really close gals, with the exception of K. are all 'masculine' signs, much like myself.
As much as I love, and have studied astrology for the last 20 years, I am somewhat skeptical. I have the belief that the chart is actually based on the WHOLE chart, and not something as rudimentary as 'my sign is ...'. Yet, thinking about this, all my close girls are 'masculine' signs. Makes me wonder ...
What also comes into play for me is Meyers-Briggs. I'm quite intrigued with the idea of nature vs. nuture. I'm still not completely sure where I stand on this. [see also The Bad Seed]
Are there just some women who are too 'manly', too unladylike enough to land a man? Ironically enough, I'm the most independent, detached, don't need you broad you'll EVER meet [and I'm not showing bravado here, especially if you know me in RL]. I find it richly ironic that somehow, despite all odds, and my best/worst intentions, somehow I've inexplicably found a man who loves/understands/gets me.
There will be more later ... I've got to pontificate about Erica Jong being reduced to ONE LINE on some stupid VH1 special last night. JFC - are you kidding me???
